Collecting Art

Starting your art collection is an exciting experience but it can also be overwhelming.  Where do you start?  How do you know what you like? There are lots of questions that are natural for new collectors to have when starting out with their first or first few purchases of original art.

We can point you in the direction of some good resources, that have been helpful to us.  There will be much more in this section soon!

Intrepid Art Collector - this book by Lisa Hunter is a good, easy-to-understand overview of how to buy art on a budget.

Things of Desire - this new online art magazine covers the art market in Canada and is a comprehensive, easy to understand guide to what is happening across the country.

Canadian Art - I love the Canadian Art website for its listings of art events across the country, as well as video and audio interviews with people from the art world

tinku tales - The tinku gallery blog is not just about our gallery.  We write with new collectors in mind, on everything from how to choose art to buying art on a budget to editing your art collection. You can read the blog at your leisure or subscribe to our posts to have them emailed to you.
